Australian Director | Writer | Producer | Composer - Heath Roderick McCarthy has kept a relatively low-profile while pursuing his endeavours. Stating "I grew up poor. My mother was a single-parent, like so many, holding down 2-3 jobs just to put food on the table. My upbringing was dysfunctional, and both my adolescence and my adulthood was psychologically testing. At times, it got really dark. Since early childhood, I battled against personal demons, insomnia and PTSD. These challenges interrupted the speed of growth necessary to becoming a better person, and a better artist. In spite of this, I knew where I wanted to go. I stayed true to myself.
Self-awareness is so important, you know. Despite how bad things got, I didn't break. I kept my integrity and my morales intact. I'm proud of that. At a young age, I had a very clear vision of where I stood in the world and how I can contribute to it.
My aim is to help people in the long-term, through my art and through my projects.''
